IPhone 5S and Macbook pro, or Android phone and windows laptop for college?

So i have an iPhone 4S, and i want to try something different because i've had many problems with it. I've come to the conclusion that for college i should get apple or android for college. If i went for apple, it would be an iphone 5S, and a macbook pro. I don't have a clue about android or windows laptops, so if you could recommend phones and laptops.

Check with the college of your choice. Some colleges are using apple products only.

I don't have a lot of faith in Windows computers anymore. I would lean toward Apple.

Let's talk about phones first:

Nowadays there's a lot to choose from. On the market right now IOS and Android are leading, with Windows Phone at third place. Yep, don't forget there's three choices to choose from: Apple, Google, and Microsoft.

Apple and iPhones - you probably know how it work. For Android, there's a lot of functionality, but I don't believe the security of it is better than the other two. Windows Phone came out late a few years than its competitors, but it is catching up slowly, with its popularity increase.

To choose a phone best fit you, consider a few factors like:
-Reliablity
-Battery Life
-Apps
-Functionality
-Software… And so on.

Apps in order from greatest to lowest: iPhone > Android > Windows Phone

Now about laptops:
Yes, most schools in the US Have start using Apple products. But remember: this is your choice of either an Apple laptop or a Windows one.

Apple:
+They look high-qualities, with its sturdy case and fast processor, these laptops won't slow you down for a long time.
- If you're new to Apple platform, it may be hard to navigate around the laptop. Not a lot of programs are designed for Apple Macbook.

Windows:
+Have more functionality because it is more popular. More programs easily work with Windows than Apple, even games.
- Will get viruses if you're not careful on the net, although there are antivirus that will do the cleaning. Components sometimes will "degrade", but these can be bring to the store for an upgrade.

  • I already have an iPhone 4 and a Macbook Pro 13, should I get an iPad 2? I'm currently a student studying computer science in a local university. What I think is that iPad is good for taking notes during lectures. However, during tutorials I have to stick with my macbook for the faster typing on the proper keyboard and faster processor. Not to mention that macbook would be a better choice for for lab lessons. I'm kind of confused right now. IPad 2 does have it's advantages and disadvantages. Hope to hear some feedbacks and advices from you guys.

  • How to make iMessage on my Macbook Pro merge with my iPhone's phone number like it used to? How do I make iMessage on my Macbook Pro merge with my iPhone's phone number like it used to? When the Messages app first popped up on my Macbook, I could send and receive texts from my phone number while typing from my laptop. Now, it sends and receives from my iCloud account name and I'm having two separate conversations with the same person! I would like the texts I send from Messages to come from my phone number, not my iCloud email.
  • Does it make sense to own an iPad, a MacBook Pro, and an iPhone 4S? I'm going to college next year for Art Teacher Education and Graphic Design, and I already own an iPhone 4S, and I'm buying a MacBook Pro (non-retina version), and i was wondering if i should get an iPad also. Because some apps for art and design are hard to navigate on the computer, and not compatible for iPhone. Is it crazy? Haha. And NO cracks about Apple and iOS and OS being crap. I have owned a PC for 14 years and Macs/Apple are much better in my opinion.
