My iphone 5 was stolen, i filed a police report and have a name.what happens?
I was at a dance and had my phone in my purse a few feet away from me, we saw people over by my stuff, i went to go get my purse, they walked away, i look inside my bag and my iphone 5 was gone along with my friends iphone 4- the people by my stuff left the club and me and my friends immediatly followed them and ended up chasing them. One of my friends new the guy who was running away from us and who was by my purse. I filed the police report gave them my seriel number for both phones and informed the cops of this guys name, birthday (found on facebook) and his cousin's name as well. Apparently this guy has been busted for the cops before and has stolen many things. We saw the type of car he got into too. How do things like this work after you file a police report? Is this enough information for the cop to investigate? Or do they have to sit around and wait?
Not trying to be mean but just so you know, cops don't care. If it wasn't theirs they are not going to make a big effort in trying to find it, because its not theirs or their loved ones. They will do it but only if they come across it. Like say if the boy name that you gave them was in a case already and they wanted to find him bad. Then they would get it but just because its benefiting them on their paycheck. They get bonuses for finding high crime suspects. But most likely they are going to put it off because they worry about more bigger cases like killings and robberies than a thief.

As a future reference, don't EVER leave your phone in your purse, especially at a club. Always have the phone on you and don't make it noticeable that you have nice things
I lost my phone today and my wife's phone is able to trace my phone to it's exact location but the police didn't take any of that into account.
The report will be investigated by the detective or officer that handles those types of cases within the department. They will likely be calling you within a day to three days with any updates they have regarding the phone. In the meantime, never put your phone or purse down ANYWHERE. And I know they give you lifetime warranty but by not thinking or anything, I threw away the case when it happened and I was thinking if I call now will they ask me to send it back or not? Or will they ask for any proof? Because there's not way of getting the broken case back.
