Syncing iTunes and iPhone 4s?

Let's keep it simple, iTunes sucks… It is not intuitive, and the only good answers online that I could find are from past iTunes updates. I have the latest update of both iTunes, and my iPhone 4s. I have a problem. I have songs on my PC (not a Mac), and I want to put them in my phone:

1) I have songs in the iTunes music library
2) I want to Sync only my songs in the iPhone, keeping everything else the same.

As soon as I start the sync, iTunes automatically starts the "Transferring Purchases" process. And by doing this, it starts copying the apps from my iPhone to the iTunes apps section… I want to avoid that, because I used to have my iTunes full of all my apps until one day, it transferred unwanted apps onto my phone automatically.
Mostly everybody has iPhones, am I the only one who has this annoying problem?
Best Answer to the person who gives me the most hope, or simply the truth.

I'm afraid you have been lured in by others who were also fooled into getting a basic phone. Others went for the iPhone becauser they thought it was the best when a lot of others had them, but it was ignorance that lead a lot of them into purchasing the iPhones.

If I were you, I would just modify the iPhone to act as a mountable volume without that ridiculous software that has to sync everything (including songs you don't like), then do what you need it to do., or just buy a handset that has either Android or Windows Phone. At least with Windows Phone, you wouldn't need to worry about a program that makes things much more complicated, yet has some of the best performances in music playback and camera.
