Will getting an iPhone update delete all of my stuff if I don't sync it?
I have an iPhone 5S and I'm still on IOS 7.1.2 and I really need to update it. I would sync it to be safe but my laptops dead and I've lost the charger. Can I still update it without it deleting all of my stuff?
It shouldn't delete anything. It's just updating the os software mostly
Updates don't usually delete anything, however there's a slight chance of something going wrong that could result in a restore to fix it. Therefore it's always best to do a backup either via iTunes or iCloud before an update. It isn't mandatory but it's best to be safe than sorry
You could get the update through the phone itself & no nothing would be deleted but should get a charger at the very least & plug it in prior to starting the update.
Yes a backup would be safer as well but it is not absolutely necessary.
- Will iTunes delete all of my stuff? I wanted to upload about 50 songs and ringtones onto my iPhone 4S just now, and when I click 'sync' a message comes up saying, "The iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?" I want to put my songs and tones on my phone, but I don't want to have my pictures, contacts, apps, etc.erased. Is this what is going to happen? Or will just my music ALREADY on my phone (about 3 songs) be erased?

- Just updated my iPhone 4s to the IOS 8 update and lost all my stuff So I have ICLOUD on my iPhone and on my mac, but when I updated my phone it restored everything back to from 2013 (2 years ago) so now I don't have my recent contacts and apps and music on the phone. My macbook pro has my recent messages and contacts but I just don't know how to transfer it all of it onto my phone. Or is their another way to get it all back from 20 min ago before I updated my phone?!
