Blacklisting Iphone IMEI on AT&T?

I lost my iPhone, and I did not have any tracking apps on it so I could not find it. Is it possible to blacklist the phone? If so, how does that work and how long will it take? If someone finds it and unlocks it, will they be able to use it on another network, like T-Mobile etc? Any additional information will be nice as well.

Call att give them the iphones info, tell the it was lost or stolen, they will blacklist it.

Yes there are so many websites in which you can put your call phone's IMEI number. Then they can easily track your cell phone.

Yes, call your carrier and report it stolen. It will then be blacklisted in Apple's database and unable to be used by anyone else.

Edit: I was using an iphone 3G for about a year and then moved my card over to the 4s.
