Buying new iphone. Can i use my old sim cars with it?

So my current iphone 6 is completely dead. It won't charge anymore so its time for a new phone. I'm going to buy the 7. Can i just use the same sim card on my old phone into the 7 and keep all my data? (apps, phone number, etc) or do i have to buy a completely new sim card and a new number for my new phone? This is the first time i'm upgrading to a new phone… Thanks.

You can use the same SIM to keep the number, but any data (photos etc.) needs to be backed up from the old phone and restored to the new one.

Without that you can re-download all the same apps for free as long as you activate the new phone on your existing Apple account, but they will start again from nothing unless linked to external accounts such as facebook.

If you backup the old one and restore to the new one as you activate it [it prompts you about that during activation], it will have everything the same - all your info, apps, settings etc.

I've always used an itunes backup when swapping phones & it works well.

ps. A new battery kit for an iphone 6 is very cheap on ebay and the old phone is worth far more if it's usable.

I think the SIM only give you service but if you backed your phone up to iCloud it should be easy to put stuff on another iPhone.

Assuming the iPhone 7 is either unlocked or from the same carrier as the 6, yes you can use the same SIM.

Keep in mind that SIM cards are not memory cards, so swapping them would only swap your number across. Things like apps would have to be transferred through a backup of the phone.
