Can a micro-SD card, in its SD-Card adapter, be used in a DSLR camera?

I bought a SanDisk Ultra 32GB Class 10 micro-SD card that I was going to use in my BlackBerry smartphone but never did and never will since I have an iPhone now and can't use it in it (gee, thanks apple!).

I thought to use it in my Nikon D5100 DSLR camera. Can a micro-SD card, in its SD-Card adapter, be used in a DSLR camera? It's a 30MB's per second type of card so I imagine it would work for taking rapid-fire shots (4 pics/sec) like a regular SD-card would. I did actually try it and it seemed to work okay but would it be reliable?

What do you all think about this?

Thanks!

Btw, here is the exact micro-sd card that I have in case you want to see it: http://www.sandisk.com/products/memory-cards/microsd/ultra-class10-for-android/?capacity=32GB

Definatily you can use micro sd card and its adaptor in your SLR…

Go ahead!

Use a quality adapter, like this:

You can, but why?

Just buy SDHC Class 10 cards, no larger than 8 gb.

Large cards make people lazy and they do not or forget to copy all their images to their computer at the end of each shooting day and then lose all of them when the memory card eventually becomes corrupt

Do not base your purchase of memory cards on cost or capacity. Instead use some logic and don't try to make a one size fits all choice when it comes to buying lenses, memory card or software

You will have to experiment to find out. Some say they have used an adapted micro-SD in digital cameras successfully. Others, including myself have found them not to work. I have not specifically tried it with the D5100.

Will it work
>> Yes, there's no reason it should not work

Would it be reliable
>> We can only hazard a guess that reliablity over a period of time may be compromised
The SD card (or micro SD card in this case) does not make direct contact with the camera
The micro SD card makes contact with the adapter, which in turn makes contact with the camera
Any loss of contact would mean images lost… Which could be not a comfortable thing

An 8 GB SD card, class 10 costs less than $10
Get 2 or 3 if needed, as opposed to a 32 GB SD card
And yeah, off-load data to your computer on a regular basis, after which you need to format the SD card from the camera - NOT computer!

It will work but experience has taught me that micro SD card adapters are too unreliable to work with. Memory cards are cheap. Just buy a full sized card for your dSLR.

Now you have an excuse to buy a GoPro, Sony Action Cam, etc. As they all use micro SD cards…
