Can apple replace my iphone 5c?

Recently I broke my iphone 5c, the screen completely came off. I threw it in the trash because I did not want the glass to go everywhere. I did not have insurance with verizon and I would have to pay the full price for a new phone. My friend told me if I hadn't thrown it away and went to the apple store with my broken phone, they would replace it for a lot less money than the original price. If I go to the apple store without my phone, would they still replace it? If not, what can I do to get a new iphone 5c without paying full price?

They can't replace something you don't have. Your only options to get a cheap one is used, or if you are near your contract, get under a new contract.

Without insurance you would pay full price even if you had the pieces. But they could have put a new screen on it.

You should still have insurance on your iPhone 5C considering it hasn't even been a year since it was released. Ya, you shouldn't have thrown it away because you would've gotten it replaced for free at the Apple store. Unfortunately, you're going to have to buy a new phone. The Apple store can't replace your phone because you don't have the old one to replace. If you're near the end of your contract, just buy a cheap one and hold out until the contract ends.

Yeah if you don't have the phone then you need to buy a new one.
