Can I be sued by an eBay buyer in a different country?

In October I sold an iPhone on eBay. Buyer paid, I mailed the item. After a month or so she contacts me and says that it's held up in customs and they won't give it to her. I told her there isn't anything that I can do about that. She asked if I could have the phone sent back to me, and then send it to someone in the states who will bring it to her. I agreed, and contacted the post office to have the phone sent back to me. I never received the phone and now 5 MONTHS LATER the buyer is demanding a refund and threatening to sue me and call the USA police. She is in Germany, I'm in the United States. Can she really sue me over something that I have no control over?

Contact the post office.

If you knew she was in Germany at the point of sale, I'd say you should have made arrangements for over seas shipping. As for her launching a court case out of country, I highly doubt it.

Yes, she can sue you but it won't be worth her time. Do the right thing and refund the money. Then get the merchandise back on your end.

Ignore her and don't refund her without getting back your item. Since she is aware of item being posted already, there's nothing much you can do. You can't control the postal services, since she lives in Germany if is her duty to find out how the postal system works when ordering something from abroad. She is probably a scammer

  • Is ebay buyer trying to scam me? An ebay buyer bought an iphone 3gs from me 1 month ago and he is barley telling me now that it doesn't work. He opened a case against me stating that the item wasn't as described. Hes had the item for a month and hes barley telling me now, is this a scam from the buyer? If so what do I do? Note: I put no refunds or exchange on my listing.
  • Does switching stores on iTunes (from country to country) affect the apps? So I downloaded a lot of apps on my iPhone when I was in the US Currently, I'm in Canada and it won't let me switch stores back until my apple music subscription is over. My question is, when I do change back, will I have to redownload all the apps? Also when I want to update the apps would I have to switch back to the US Store?
  • Do I have to give a refund to ebay buyer? I'm in a big situation. This lady bought an iPhone from me and I shipped it off in an envelope. I even added a tracking number so she can see it when it would arrive. Problem is, she said she received it, but there was nothing inside the envelope. Do I have to give her a refund or am I not at fault? On the receipt, it shows that the weight of the envelope had something in there. Is that enough evidence, or am I forced to lose out on money?
  • Can you text someone from another country if they are visiting your country? So I currently live in America, and one of my friends is living in Canada so we're unable to text each other without a fee. My friend is actually coming to New York for a few days on a field trip in school, meaning she will be in the country. Does this mean that we can text each other while she is in the country, or not cause her number is still registered to Canada? If it helps at all, I have AT&T she she is using an Iphone
