Can i change carriers by changing sim cards?
I have an iphone 4s and my sprint phone bill is very expensive. Recently my friend told me about Virgin Mobile and i would like to switch my carriers however. When i went onto the Virgin mobile site, it said my current phone was not compatible with their services and that I would have to buy another phone. I thought of selling my iphone for another iphone sounds silly to me. One of my techy friends said changing my sprint sim card, to a virgin mobile sim card would let my iphone work. Is that true?
Nope. Your phone is locked to sprint.
When your contract is up you can unlock it then it will work with any network
Nope, it's because your phone is still locked on Sprint. It can be unlocked after your contract is over.
Obviously your friend is not very techy. Sprint and Virgin is a CDMA provider, they do not use SIM cards. In order to use a CDMA phone to another CDMA network it needs to be flashed.
You can't switch a contract Sprint iPhone to Virgin for two reasons
1.Virgin doesn't allow you to use your on phone
2. Virgin runs on Sprints Network and activation of it will be blocked.
You CAN activate it on PagePlus though, after you get the phone unlocked and flashed to PP
- When changing sim cards, is all my info safe on my iphone? My old phone network is closing down so I'm changing to a new one. My new sim card will be activated in less than 3 hours.
