Can I down-grade my iphone to a non-data plan?

Looking for ways to save money, I would like to downgrade my family plan(2 i-phones) with at&t to a plan without data, i would understand if this would incur charges, but we primarily use Wi-Fi anyway. Can I switch my 2 4s phones to a plan without the data, and get a plan as simple as 700 minutes and unlimited text messages?

They will not charge you anything to downgrade your service. You only signed a contract with AT&T to have service with them. The down side to not having a data plan is that AT&T will not allow you to use a smart phone without a data plan and they are pretty strict about it… Although… I argued with AT&T for many hours about using one without a data plan, and they finally told me they'd offer me a "Pay as use " plan, which is $2 a MB. You can still use Wi-Fi, but I'd highly recommend turning off the cellular data on your phone just in case you accidentally try to use internet on 3g/4g.

SURE!
There must be different ways to set you billing. - I have, just today - for this matter changed my billing to [the next-lower] memory-scale w. My local AT&T-office.
%I was being billed monthly for 5.0 GB of memory-space with the ability to use my touchpad as a Wi-Fi dock and Free Text-messaging.
I use only (maybe) 1.5GB -> 3.5GB of memory, monthly without a single text-message.
I have now changed to the 3.0GB memory-package. I will have to pay for any amt.of memory that I do go over each month @ a cost of $10.00 per GB. I hope this will be enough.

Ask your AT&T-rep. For ideas and options. Unless they / you live in a cave, they should help you think outside the box.
