Can I get out of paying for a data plan under at&t?
I currently have an iPhone 3GS through Straight Talk under their 45 unlimited everything plan. My mother currently has a non smart phone she uses under AT&T. She is currently eligible for an upgrade, and she is thinking about making that upgrade an iPhone 4 which she will just give to me.
I'm wondering if it would be possible for her to get the iPhone 4 as her upgrade, then for me to simply take my sim card out of my 3GS and use it in the 4 and then her just go back to using her old, non-smart phone that she's used to?
Also, would we be able to get out of the data plan that comes with the AT&T contract for the iPhone 4?
You could /Probably/ just stick you're sim in, and everything would be ok, but you couldn't get out of the AT&T Internet plan that comes with it.
Hope this helps!
You couldn't do that.AT&T locks their phones so they can only work on their network. The iphone would not work with a sim card from straight talk or any other network.AT&T will only unlock your cell phone if these requirements are met
AT&T will unlock an iPhone under the following circumstances:
The person requesting the unlock is:
A current AT&T customer, or
A former AT&T customer who can provide the phone number or account number for the account.
The iPhone was designed for use on the AT&T network.
All contract obligations, including any term commitment, associated with the device to be unlocked have been fully satisfied.
The iPhone has not been reported lost or stolen.
You also can't get out of the data plan without paying an early termination fee. The cost of this for a smartphone that requires a data plan is $325 minus $10 for each month of completed service.
- Using an AT&T iPhone on AT&T without paying for data plan? I have an iPhone 4 a friend gave me for Christmas and I was looking to use it without data and just be able to go on the Internet when I have Wi-Fi, is there a way maybe if I factory unlock it that AT&T will not charge me for a data plan when I put my sim card in?
- Something about exceeding my data allowance under my Verizon family shared plan? So here's the deal: I have a family plan with 4GB data plan and unlimited text and call which costs 50 bux per month, but what happens if I exceed the total data allowed? I'm a iphone photographer which requires me to constantly upload photos to Instagram almost everyday, and I'm really afraid of being charged a lot if I exceed the total data allowed…
- Is an Iphone worth paying 30 dollars a month for the data plan? So i'm a sophomore in college and i don't even have a smart phone. It feels like almost everyone has a iphone and feel like i'm missing out. I have an upgrade available through AT&T but my parents don't want to pay for a data plan. They said for my birthday in two weeks they are willing to get me an iphone and a year of data, and then i could just get my data plan renewed each year as my birthday gift. Do you think it is worth it? I'm thinking yes…
- How to jailbreak my iPhone 4S to have data plan without paying for it? My brother told me you can but I wasn't so sure. I don't know much about jail breaking and If there's a way can you please tell me how to do it.
