Using an AT&T iPhone on AT&T without paying for data plan?
I have an iPhone 4 a friend gave me for Christmas and I was looking to use it without data and just be able to go on the Internet when I have Wi-Fi, is there a way maybe if I factory unlock it that AT&T will not charge me for a data plan when I put my sim card in?
No I don't think so but just tell them you don't want the data and see what they say. I'm sure they would just charge you if you used it.
They will automatically put you on a data plan when it detects the iPhone on the network. I would suggest getting a Straight Talk SIM and go that route - it will cost about half what AT&T would charge you.
Nope. Factory unlocking an iPhone does not exempt you from the data fees. Smartphones require data plans. Just the way it is.
Smartphones require a data plan. You can use it like an ipod touch and just do Wi-Fi only (no calling or sms texting)
