Can I keep an I phone that I found?
I found this chicks iphone, I already have one and decided to give it back to her. The issue is that I wanted a $200 reward and she said no. She said no reward because it doesn't belong to me and threatened to call police. She don't have my name or number and she was calling me on her own phone. I cut the phone off and haven't had it on for days now. At this point I'm keeping the phone.
Sure and she will call it in lost or stolen, and her carrier will blacklist the IMEI or ESN and you won't be able to activate that phone on any carrier. She can call the cops, but they are not likely going to do much unless they tap you on the shoulders.
Greedy much?
You have no right to keep a phone when you know who lost it,
and you have no right to demand a reward.
Return it to her Now with your genuine apologies for being a greedy creep.
Thou shall not steal.
You are some piece of work - what a LOSER. So now you will have something that is a brick- and she will not have her phone. I bet you are REAL lucky with all the ladies if this is you attitude. This WILL come back to bite you in the but - you know that.
Thats low n dirty
You could 'try' to keep it all you want. ICloud Activation Lock would have a different 'opinion' about the phone being useful to you.
You are a thief & a lout.
That is criminal theft.
Depending on the country / state it may be called Theft by finding or Theft by omission - the exact legal term varies.
Regardless, the penalties are the same as any other form of theft.
Demanding money could add extortion to the charges.

What you need to do, is to take-out the sim card, and mail it back to her, anominously.
then, all you need to do is to go online and buy a sim-crd or a phone program from any carrier.
no one should be able to track it, when the previous owner's sim card is gone.
sim cards are easy to get. But, there might be a difference between carriers, so each carrier issues their own sim-cards.
it is own conscience, but you might just give her/his phone back, and buy a cheap one for $40 bucks, already unlocked, online.
- Would it be illegal to keep a phone that I found? 4 days ago I found an iPhone X in a coffee shop, I took it and I want to keep it because it's really nice and it didn't even have a passcode on it so I deleted everything on the phone and put my Apple ID on it, no one has called the phone or anything so would it be illegal to keep it and is there any way for them to track the phone down? I really want the phone.
- Why do my iPhone messages keep getting sent to my phone and another phone? Whenever a message gets sent to my iPhone 4, my brother in Vermont also gets them on his iPhone 4S. So like ill be texting my friend and he can see the entire conversation and he can type. I don't get his messages though. I just wanted to know if there's an easy way to fix this because it just started happening about three weeks ago and none of us have gotten a new phone in a year. I'm not sure if it happened when he went back to College and he crossed a state border?
- I found an iPhone 4s, can I keep it? The poor thing was totally trashed. The screen completely cracked and the SIM card had sharpie all over it. I found this while on a trip in Miami, now that I'm back in Cali, I want to know if it's safe to use? I replaced the screen and changed the SIM. It was orginally registered with AT&T but they already cut the service.
- I found an iphone 4s can i keep it? I found the phone a couple months ago and could not get in touch with the owner. The Iphone is also locked. Can I keep it for my own use? I want to keep it but without service and use it as an ipod touch. What can I do? Please don't tell what is ethical and that I should continue to try to find the owner. I have tried but could not contact the owner! 10 points to best answer!
