Can I still revieve text messages if Wi-Fi AND cellular data are off?
I have an iphone 5, can I still revieve text messages (not iMessages) and phone calls if Wi-Fi AND cellular data are off?
You should be able to, yes, provided you have a texting plan. They just won't come through as iMessages, but as text messages -- the only difference seems to me to be the color of the speech bubble and the way they're paid for.
Yes, since sending/receiving text messages/phone calls has never & still doesn't require an internet connection
Yes, both can be disabled. Calls and texts do not use Wi-Fi or Data.
Wi-Fi or Data allows you to use the internet, and apps that require the internet.
- Would downloading and streaming while Wi-Fi is on still take up cellular data? I turned cellular data off on my iPhone and turned on Wi-Fi. I'm allowed 7GB of data each month and the cell carrier told me not to make and big downloads or stream videos or it will slow my internet down. If I do these things while Wi-Fi is on, would I still be using up the 7GB? Or can I download and stream freely like I did with my iPod?
- Why does my iphone use data over night when cellular data is turned off? Every night I turn off cellular data and leave the iPhone on and one day I wake up and check my data manager and see i have already used 25 MB please help!
- When you have Wi-Fi and cellular data on at the same time, does it use cellular data? If I keep my cellular data on and also have my iPhone connected to Wi-Fi, will it use any of my cellular data?
- If you turn off cellular data on an iphone, does it still charge you? On an iPhone, you can turn off the cellular data. Under Settings; General; Network it gives you the option to turn off all cellular data. If you do that, does it still charge you monthly for data?
