It is water RESISTANT - meaning a slight splash will not damage it if wiped off promptly. If you want to swim with it, you need a serious waterproof case or bag. And you need to think about why you need a phone in the ocean. If you intend to take underwater photos, you would know about waterproof bags already.

So right now I'm in Outer Banks (beautiful area, my family rented a house with a pool and a short walk to the beach) and I went for a 5ish minute swim in the pool. Then my mom called me in to have lunch, and that s when I realized I f ed up. My family is big, so I had a bunch of suggestions being thrown at me at once, a bunch of them being the bag or rice.
