Can I switch to iphone? - verizon?

I have recently bought an htc thunderbolt (about a month ago) from offline and had it activated at the verizon store. Since they don't sell those phones anymore, a contract was not required with the phone. I'm very, very, very unhappy with this phone, and am looking towards an iPhone. My sister, on our data plan, is upgrading her iphone from 8gb to 16gb, and getting a new physical iphone. Could I get her previous iphone? About how much would it cost to switch?

Yes, Verizon will let you switch to that phone (or any other Verizon phone you get someplace other than from them) without changing your plan or making you get a contract. They might make you pay an activation fee, I'm sure it would be less than $50 if there's one at all. To make the switch, once your sister's phone is no longer activated on her number, just call *228 on it - or bring it to a Verizon store, or go to www.verizonwireless.com/activate

Sometimes you need to turn in the old phone to get the new one, or if you turn in the old phone you can get a discount on the new one. But most of the time they will let her keep the old phone.

The old phone will not be activated under any cellular network. It can't receive calls, send texts, etc. But will still function (like an iPod Touch, can connect to Wi-Fi).

Simply go into a Verizon store, hand them the phone, and ask to have it activated on your plan. You will not need a contract, since you are not buying a new phone. You may pay a one-time activation fee (probably around $20-30), applied to the next bill.
