Can I use an iPhone on an airplane?

If I set it to airplane mode. Is it true that if you don't it will mess with the signals?

Any properly-designed plane ought to be immune to electronic interference from low-powered transmitters. Otherwise they'd be falling out of the sky over every city. But just to be safe, they don't want you using a transmitter inside the plane, and especially not during takeoff and landing when there's no time to find problems. Since there's a tiny tiny amount of RF produced by any modern electronics running at any reasonable speed (and rather more by old transistor superhet radio receivers) they want you to actually turn it off.
But in my opinion if you put it on airplane mode it's perfectly safe, and you can just say oops you forgot if they find you, rather than arguing.
People on American Airlines 77 used cellphones to call out, but that's not what brought the plane down.

(a cellphone in normal mode does transmit, at maximum power, every few minutes to try and find a tower, even if you are not talking. But that's only 300mW or something)

Hi what you do is while your waiting for your flight put your phone in airplane mode than turn it off since during taxi takeoff landing any electronics must be completely turned off than once you reach 10, 000 you can turn on your phone but only in airplane mode if you don't use airplane mode it will mess with the airplanes computers I hope I was able to help you and have a safe flight:-)

It has to be on flight mode. And it can only be on after take off and must must switched off again before descent
