Can I use the iPhone headset as an external mic for my ASUS laptop?

So I'm using an ASUS A42J laptop. And it's microphone is already busted. Whenever I use it, the people I talk to can't hear me. Well, they could hear me at first, but then they'll be hearing something with a buzzing sound and next thing they hear is my voice drowning until it reaches complete silence and not hear a thing anymore. However, I have a headset, complete with earphones and a microphone. It's the one used for the iPhone, so it has no on/off switch whatsoever. How can I use the headset's mic as my default? I believe that the ASUS laptop has only one jack, but as I've mentioned, the headset has both the earphones and mic. So yeah, the laptop's built in mic isn't working anymore. So I have to make use of an external mic. Everytime I look for it in the recording devices, I can't see it, though.

I'm afraid Apple's stuff is mostly incompatible with everything non-apple. Buy a cheap standard headset and use that one.

  • Suggest me a Camera with external mic input and Flip screen with in affordable price I want to do travel vlog on my own, like with the help of tripod so I want to see my self while vlogging and I want there to be external mic input so that Audio quality should be rich. Please suggest. Apart from that tell me iPhone 6s+ is better for that work or I should buy a camera.
  • My external mic isn't working? Someone So I just received my external mic for my Iphone, it has the end of like an aux cord so it fits in my phone and I don't need an adapter. But when I tested it, sound only recorded from the built in microphone and not the external mic. The phone seems to be recognizing it as headphones instead of a mic, is there a setting I need to change?!
