Can phone still be tracked?
If someone finds an iphone, successfully restores it without needing apple id and password, and changes sim cards can the phone still be tracked?
If so can you explain how? If Find My iPhone is turned on wouldn t the person have needed the apple id and passcode before restoring it?
If someone stole your phone, report it to the police. Give them the information, and they should be able to track it.
The phone IMEI is still sent to each cell tower as part of the basic phone system.
If it's in use it can be detected.
Also, service providers can lock it out the system to render it useless.
Some criminals buy damaged phones and swap the main board out of a damaged one into the stolen one that has a good case and screen, discarding the main board that's got the icloud lock.
The GPS is still in the phone.
