Can't connect to home Wi-Fi with iphone?
Added (1). All my other devices work on my home Wi-Fi which i use thru my imac. My ipad, ps4 and wife's phone all work. I have reset the router, reset the phone, forgot the network, wiped my phone out and reinstalled, changed the dns in my phone. NOTHING WORKS! It's an iphone 6 and everything was fine til a couple of months ago when i updated it to ios10.
You don't say whether the phone works on other networks. If it does, then it is a compatibility issue between the phone and your router. Incompatibility issues affect between 2% and 5% of Wi-Fi connections, although in many cases the result is simply that the connection is rather slower than it should be and people do not even realise they have a problem.
If the phone will not work on any network, you should complain to Apple and get them to fix it.
Almost certainly, the update to iOS 10 contained a new Wi-Fi driver which is the cause of the problem. I assume you have checked that Wi-Fi is enabled in the phone. I can't imagine that you have not already checked this out.
If it works on other networks, then the answer is to change the Wi-Fi source you are connecting to. This can mean:
1) Installing a different router.
2) Adding a wireless access point to your network to provide a separate Wi-Fi network for your phone.
3) Using a Wi-Fi Range Extender. This receives the Wi-Fi from your router, and then retransmits it as a new network.
With solutions 2 and 3, always use a different Wi-Fi network name (SSID) so that you guarantee connecting to the correct network.
- Why can't my desktop connect to our Wi-Fi at home but does connect to moble hotspot? Suddenly my desktop won't connect to our Wi-Fi. All other devices such as laptops, phones and tablets connects just fine. I tried connecting it to my iphone's hotspot and it works. I tried to unistall and reinstall the wireless adapter but still won't work. I also tried to reboot the router and even tried to change the channel but still failed to make it work. Do you have any other way to make it work? I have windows 7 on my desktop.
- One laptop can connect to our home Wi-Fi network but no other devices can connect? We recently set up a wireless internet connection in our house. One laptop can connect to it (the one I'm currently on) but no other devices can connect to it. It says our "Network Security Key" is mismatched. I have tried typing in all the different codes on both the router and modem on both our second laptop and an iPhone 5. How can I fix this?
- My iphone will not connect to my home Wi-Fi. It can connect to any other network with no problems All my other devices at home connect with no problem, but once i updated my phone it won't connect here. I've reset the router, my network settings, forgot this network, even wiped out my phone and it still won't work. I changed the dns several times. Sometimes that works for a little while, but then eventually stops. What the hell?
- My iphone can't connect to my home Wi-Fi? In the past i always managed to connect, but recently it's been asking me for a username and password to connect; and i only ever had a password so i have no idea what the username is… I've tried putting 'admin' and the SSID of the modem/router into the username field but it never worked.
