Cheap Ebay iPhone case smells weird-how do I get rid of the odor? Is it dangerous?

I bought a bunch of novelty cases on ebay for a couple bucks each. They all smell atrocious, and I'm worried they're carcinogenic or something. I was going to give them to my sister for xmas, but I don't know how bad these toxins are:/.

Is there any way to remove the scent? I've left it out over baking soda for a day now, and it doesn't seem to have done anything. Should I use some sort of sealant spray over it?

Febreeze?

EDIT: I also don't think it would be dangerous. It's just the material it's made of. Why would people sell something that would hurt somebody? They'd want business back.

  • What's the chances of actually being able to get a iPhone on eBay for really cheap? There are listings where the bidding starts at 99 cents. I just found one where nobody has bid on it yet, but it still has about 23 hours to go. What's the chances of getting an iPhone 5 super cheap like that from an eBay listing? As the time goes down will more people start to bid? If the seller has good reviews then does the chances of them trying to scam people go down? Or can a seller have fake reviews like you can buy followers on instagram?
