Completely delete numbers from iPhone?

I have an iPhone 5, completely updated. I recently got into a relationship and wanted to delete some contacts. But when I go to my messages and start typing in the "to" box, their names will still show up. How do I fix this?

You must have their numbers still saved in texts some place me thinks. Maybe go through your texts and delete the text messages from them?

Have you tried deleting them from your contacts? If so, even though you deleted their contact name, their number will show up. To remove, you have to delete all of your messages/calls with them. Just slide to the left or right (I forgot which way) but yeah. Either to the left or right and a "delete" option should show up. Just delete it and you'll never see it again.

You have to restore as new device wiping out everything and starting as new.

  • Will upgrading iPhone 4 to iOS 6 completely delete jailbreak? I know it will get rid of jailbreak, which I don't mind at all. However, I have read through different forums that sometimes the jailbreak is never completely deleted because some files still remain in phone. I would not want that to be the case (I might as well not upgrade, I don't want those files possibly causing any performance problems). So, what say you? I want to try iOS 6 on my iPhone 4.
  • Will reseting my iphone 5 delete everything? Like pictures, apps, and phone numbers? • Why won't my iPhone 4s let me delete the contacts completely? I have deleted the contact but when I go and send a new text their name still pops up, but when you press the name to text them the number comes up. For example if the name comes up "Sally" and you tap it it'll show up as "(123)456-7890." But I want to delete the contact completely! How? I have already deleted their text as well. But there number still pops up.
  • My IPhone works completely fine sometimes but a lot of times I can't use it and it's completely unresponsive to my touch? I scheduled an appointment to fix my very cracked screen and I was just wondering if this will fix my problem for sure or is there something else that may be causeing the screen to be unresponsive?
