Connecting a used iPhone to iTunes for the first time?

Hiya,
My friend has been using his iPhone for about 6 months without backing it up to a computer. It's a business phone and so has a lot of important information stored on the phone itself. It's started playing up and I reckon backing it up to a computer may help. He's useless with technology but I'm not much better, my questions are:
1. Can I just download iTunes to his computer and sync his iPhone to it? It will be the only 'apple' device connected to it…
2. If I do the above, will it erase all his data? Will this data include text messages, photos and voicemails?
3. If it does delete everything on the iPhone, is there any way of getting it back?
4.Is there an easier/ safer way of connecting his phone with his computer whilst ensuring none of the data is deleted?

Thank you so much in advance! I can follow manuals and teach myself with the help of google etc but I just don't want to be the one responsible for wiping his phone!

Backing up the iPhone via iTunes is as easy as selecting the files you want backed up.
iTunes is available for download to anyone who wants it. Go to Apple and download.

Now once you have linked the iPhone to iTunes you will want a file program to store all the info in on your local computer. I like FileExployerFree. Follow the instructions on how to use.

The files will not be deleted from the iPhone unless you decide to after the transfer process has completed.

Just make sure you take your time preforming this process, because once your files have been deleted you will not get them back.

The only way to get the files back is if you signed up for a iCloud account which backs up the phone online. I suggest getting a iCloud account before doing the above steps.

  • Would syncing my iphone for the first time erase my data? I have never synced it to an itunes since getting my iphone(4) earlier this year, i'm wondering if i sync it to a freshly installed itunes on a laptop will it erase all my data? (apps, contacts, etc.) Also i have my music in a music downloader app. So is this risky?
  • Is tbere any major différence between thé iPhone 6 and the 6s? Whooppeee is Xmas again and my daughter wants new 2nd hand) iPhone… 2 years ago almost bought her 5 before i réaliséd that it was 5s she wanted ( cos thé 5 sucks?) And I don't want to screw up this year…
  • If you crack your iPhone for the first time, will Apple replace it for free? My friend cracked her screen and when she brought it to the apple store to get it fixed they fixed it for free only because it was her first time cracking it, and well that happened to me a few days ago so I wanted to see if it was true, anyone else had theirs fixed up for free first time it got cracked?
  • I didn't charge my iPhone enough first time? Now the battery doesn't last a day I got it yesterday and didn't charge it for 8 hours if I let the battery drain then charge right up for a good few hours will this improve my battery life?
