Could I get into trouble for scamming on craigslist?

I was talking to some guy. I'm supposed to be sending my iphone 5c(perfect condition) for his gold iphone 5s which can't be used because he restarted it and forgot the Apple ID and password. We're both sending through the mail. If I receive his iphone and don't send mine would I get into trouble? Craigslist says don't ship only deal locally. This guy knows my address email and phone number.Ps: he thinks my address is my cousins address

Yes, you could get into trouble.

Do not mail back and forth like that, meet at a public location at lunch time such as McDonalds.

Well he has your email which is a verifiable record in court. Especially if your email is registered in your name, or if you are using the Internet at your homes IP address. This wouldn't be a crime, but something to go to small claims court over, assuming this is valued under $500. Since you agreed to the terms and receive the benefit you have formed a contract with the other guy. He can enforce it if he brings you to court.

It is unlikely you would get criminal charges for fraud unless he could prove you never intended to deliver on your duty (send your phone).

Ethically, you should hold up your end of the bargain though.

I'd file a police report against you if that was the case. Plus, you don't want a stalker. You never know who you are dealing with.

I bet the 5S is stolen if he doesn't know the password. You have no way around it, it will never be usable without that as its an iOS 7 security feature.

  • Mom is worried about ecoatm scamming my I.d? So I'm planning on selling my iPhone, but ecoatm needs to scan my drivers license to verify that I'm 18 or older. My mom is worried about my identity being stolen. Has anybody ever had their identity stolen from one of these machines?
  • Kik? Could I get in trouble? My dad downloaded kik on his iphone for me to use and I get on omegle and find people to talk to. Well if they turn out wanting dirty pictures or you know things in that nature I block them and delete the conversation. I say sorry no I'm not into that kind of stuff, bye. Can I get in trouble for "sexting" or something because they send dirt messages sometimes? I never say anything like that back. Sorry, I didn't mean to put it under this category
  • I could get the iPhone 5s in like 3 weeks but I could get the 5c tommorow? I could get the 5s in a few weeks and I love it but I also really like the iPhone 5c and I could get a great otter box case for it or get the 5s but that would take 3 more weeks. What should I do?! And the 5c is still great right? Because a lot of people still have the 4s. And please don't say wait for the 6 because I'm not
