Could this be strep throat? Or just irritation?

Had a sore throat started yesterday, this morning I took Advil around 1:30pm its now 5pm and it seemed tomake the soreness go away. I have also looked at the back of my throat with my iPhone flash light (several times, lol because i tend to be a hypochondriac and have anxiety over these things) it seems to look a little irritated but not red like strep looks. No swollen tonsils, no fever also no cold symptoms such as runny nose stuffy head ect. Just a minor head ache. I also haven't been in contact with anyone with strep. If it was strep wouldn't i be in a lot more pain have a fever, white spots, ect? I never had strep before so i don't know. Also i won't be able to call my doctor until Monday or Tuesday.

My dear, I have had strep more than I can count on my toes and fingers. Strep may take awhile to develop. Even if you may think you did no come in contact with anyone, it can contagious through open air such if someone had it and coughed without covering their mouth. Sometimes it be the weather as it can be dry or humid out possibly even cold where you live so that can cause an effect with sore throats. But if there's no indication of white spots or packets of puff by the tonsils I would just keep a watch for awhile and it can develop one sooner or later. But also think back, did you eat anything that could have bothered it such as a chip. Just keep watch on it and hope it clears out soon!

I've experienced having strep throat for 5 months straight. I never had white specks. If you get to the point where you feel like the vibration of your voice hurts and you have to whisper or speak quietly, then you should go to the doctor so be tested for strep. Your tonsils would swell too and it would be a little more difficult to swallow. There are ways of preventing strep by maintaining the germs and pain before they become serious. I recommend drinking or gargling dill pickle juice, slightly hot salt water, or mouth wash. Try to hold the gargles for as long as you can. Those help sooth your throat and kill germs. I also suggest eating honey, hard candy, ice cream, and popsicles. If it's just allergies then try some warm lemon tea. Lemon does a great job at solving allergy problems.
