Craigslist theft by deception scam?

I got sold an iPhone 6 Plus on Craigslist and I paid $520 for it. The post said it was unlocked and for T-Mobile. In reality it was locked with sprint. The guy won't answer my calls and keeps blocking me on different numbers. Is there anything I can do? I got his license plate numbers and I have his number, name he used and also screenshot of the convo where he originally said he would give me my money back before he blocked me. What can I do? Can I involve the police?

Cops won't get involved.

You can, however, take him to small claims court. It's $30 to file, and no one can use lawyers.

Save a copy of the ad, print it out and take them to small claims court. Odds are they will not show up however…
Did you pay by check? If so get the bank involved, cancel the check/payment if not too late.

File a police report first, be sure his number, copy of ad, and license plate are all included. Also save all emails or texts, back them up now to make sure you have them. You can take him to small claims but a police report should be filed against them.
