Did replacing my iPhone screen void its warranty?

A few months ago I dropped my iPhone 4S and the screen cracked. I got it fixed by a local repair shop. You can't visibly tell it's not the original screen. Now recently my phone battery has been messing up so today I talked to an Apple technician who ran a diagnostic test on the battery, and it failed. The worker told me I was still under warranty and I could send it to Apple to be replaced for free. But now I'm worried that once they receive it, they'll open it and be able to tell that the screen has been replaced by a third party, and they'll charge me for the repair. I obviously didn't tell the Apple person that. So any thoughts?

To answer your first question. Yes, replacing your iPhone screen at an unauthorized repair shop will void its warranty.

To your second concern, they may or may not find out about it. So it's up to yourself if you feel like risking being charged for a replacement.

Of course it would because you had work done on it from someone else.

  • Will taking my iPhone to a cellphone repair shope void the warranty? There's a cell phone repair shop nearby my house. The top button of my iPhone 5 has become unresponsive. I've only had it since December. I went to the apple store, but they wanted to replace the entire phone. I thought that was crazy just for a button. Will taking my iPhone to a cell phone repair shop just to see what they say or if they can fix it end up making my warranty void?
  • Will scratches and minor dents void my iPhone 4's warranty? Yesterday I called apple because my lock screen button had been pushed in, I was told that as long as it hadn't been dropped, which it hadn't, that it should be replaced at the spot but I'd have to bring it into an apple store. Now what's worrying me is that there's a few scratches around my lock button because I used to like wearing long acrylic nails and using them to take debris out of in between the button. Will this void my warranty in any way?
  • Will getting my iPhone 4S unlocked by my carrier void my warranty? I'm currently on T-Mobile, but wish to switch to GiffGaff. If I ring up T-Mobile and pay the required cost to get it unlocked, will it void my warranty?
  • If I unlock my iphone 4s will it void warranty? I just recently bought a iphone 4s. I have a warranty on it, but if I unlock my iphone 4s, and then something bad happens to it, will Apple still cover me for a replacement? Let me know thanks!
