Differencies in internet speed?

This is very disturbing when I start downloading any kind of softwares from my computer and mobile please let me elaborate.
When I tried to download a software from ie9 my wi-fi gives me a speed of 25kb/s also when something from chrome 36kb/s but from my galaxy s3 it give me speed of 7.83mb/s and my dad's iphone 4s about 8.2mb/s with same router which has actually the declared speed from my service provider 10mb/s so please explain the reason and also a solution for my computer speed to increase.
Configuration of my computer:
Win7 hom prem
4GB RAM
Intel core i7 2670QM

Where are you getting the speed from?

Your numbers don't add up correctly. If your ISP gives you a 10 Mbps service as you claim, then your maximum download rate is about 1.25 MBps. There's no way you could get a 7 or 8 MBps download rate from a 10 Mbps speed.

As for your computer, I can only imagine that the problem is wireless interference. I would definitely try to power cycle all of your equipment, and physically plug into the router to see if that makes a difference.

  • Why is my internet speed slow? So I have a netgear router and recently, anything connected to it has had really slow connection speed. My computer (which is wired) and my iPhone (which uses Wi-Fi) both can't load YouTube videos without constant buffering and low res. If it helps I'm with plusnet and just their standard internet service. Not sure what to do as I think I've tried everything
  • Why does my laptop get such bad internet download speed while my Iphone gets 10 times more? My router is downstairs connected to a Windows vista PC. That PC connected with an ethernet cable gets around 90-100Mbs download speed. I did another speed test on my iphone upstairs next to my laptop, and it got 80-90 Mbs. But When I did the speed test on my laptop, it was only 10Mbs down. It's really annoying because it takes like a billion years to open youtube and everything lags.
  • What is your Internet connection speed? Please Answer quickly. My speed is 3 Kbps. Device:- iPhone 2G (1st Gen) Operator: Airtel Country:- IndiA Connection type:- 2G Edge No 3G or 4G available.
  • What internet speed should I order? - 1 I'm looking at up to 3Mbps for $29.99 per month or up to 15Mbps for $34.99 per month, before taxes and fees. I don't want to pay for more than I need, but I want to have enough speed to do what I need to. I'm a college student and I watch lectures online streaming and I have to download and upload homework assignments as well. I also stream Netflix and connect my iPhone to Wi-Fi when I get home. Which would be better for me?
