Do i need cellular data on when i'm not connected to Wi-Fi?
Okay, so i have the iphone 5 just a little over a week old. I was wondering when i'm not connected to Wi-Fi, do i need to turn cellular data on? Trying to text while on the road takes a long time to send, then if i turn cellular data on it sends right away? I know i probably sound silly but i don't know.haha thank you!
Wi-Fi and cellular data both give your phone Internet. Whenever you do stuff that needs Internet, you need at least one of those to be working.
But texting doesn't use Internet at all - it just uses the regular cell network.
So as long as you have a cell signal you can text, and how fast you can text should not be affected by whether cellular data is on or off, or if Wi-Fi is connected or not. If you're noticing a difference it's probably a coincidence.
P.S. I hope that when you're trying to text on the road, that someone else is driving!
Unless you expect messages to pass through dirt, then yeah you need cellular or Wi-Fi.
- Why does my iphone use data over night when cellular data is turned off? Every night I turn off cellular data and leave the iPhone on and one day I wake up and check my data manager and see i have already used 25 MB please help!
- When you have Wi-Fi and cellular data on at the same time, does it use cellular data? If I keep my cellular data on and also have my iPhone connected to Wi-Fi, will it use any of my cellular data?
- MY MOM TOOK TURNED OFF MY CELLULAR DATA! Need advice? Ok so my mom literally takes my phone away for no reason and this time she decided to turn off my cellular data so basically my iPhone is now works like an iPod. (It's been a week now). How should I get it back and have your parents done this to you?
- My iphone says i'm connected to Wi-Fi but when i try to run something it says i'm not connected? My phone shows signal, it has a check mark by the device but when i try to open an app it says can't find a connection.
