Do iPhones disable 3rd party chargers?

When I get an off brand charger I notice that it works well for a little while. Then I start getting a pop up saying "accessory not supported" after a few chargers the charger stops working, it won't charge and it won't register that I plugged it in at all. But if I plug another iPhone in the same charger I can see that it still works.

Do iPhones recognize 3rd party chargers and disable them in an effort to have more people purchase their over priced $50 chargers?

The charger itself is not broken, it works completely fine but the phone rejects it after realizing it is not an Apple charger. The phone continues to charge as normal on an Apple charger.

Can I get Apple to quit doing this as they are causing me to have a loss of money from all the chargers I've had to purchase?

Yes, iPhones prevent the use of non-Apple chargers.

The way it works is that Apple chargers are recognized and third-party ones are not.

No, you Can't "get Apple to quit doing this".
Whether you like it or not, a manufacturer has the right
to make its products work in any desired way.

You, in turn, have the right to buy products from manufacturers
that don't restrict use of accessories.
This is often called "voting with your dollars".

When you get right down to it, a charger should last indefinitely.
If you keep having to replace yours, maybe you aren't treating it as well as you should.

No they charge things that have not been invented yet Its a Democrat thing

  • Why is it called third party? Who are the first and second party? So like in iPhone, you are not allowed to use a third part charger because it is not supported but I was wondering if there's a first party or a second party charger that exists?
  • Is there a apple device or any 3rd party product like this? Where I can stream movies from itunes to my tv? Or anything similar to that amazon tv thing. I have something similar but it was from when I had an old iphone and now since I have an iphone 6, the charger plug-in is different compared to the 6's, rendering the current tool useless
  • Is it safe to install 3rd party iPhone 6 batteries? I'm an electrical engineer but Apple does not sell batteries directly to the consumer. Instead, they ship it to the authorized service centre. The service centre charges a lot for a new battery(around $200 or more). While going through Amazon, I was able to find iPhone 6 batteries for $30-50. My battery is ok for now but I was wondering if it is safe to put a 3rd party battery https://www.amazon.com/...01B4TEJUM/
  • IPhone 5 chargers. Is is my phone or the chargers? I received my iPhone 5 in December 2012.It is now may 2013 and I have been through 5 iPhone chargers. The charger that came with my phone would work until about march then I had 2 others chargers which both broke a week or two later. Then I ordered 2 more from the apple store and both broke at the same time in may. Should I get my phone checked out or is it the apple chargers? They all still look perfectly brand new. They not damage or torn up or anything. They just stop charging my phone!
