Do middle class parents often raise children better?

Rich and wealthy parents probably put their children in better schools (often private schools) and give them more expensive extracurricular activities for kids. But people do say that these parents sometimes start to spoil their kids too much, and some start to give them whatever they want because they can't stand seeing their precious little boy/girl getting upset over not being able to get what they wish. As a result, some wealthy children start acting arrogant and manipulative, especially when they can't get what they want. Poor families often can't afford better education and kids might do worse in school if they worry about what goes on at home too much. The parents are often not around so much because they are so hard working, so they spend less time with the children. I see that middle class parents can put their kids in excellent schools and extracurricular activities too. They try to make their children happy by giving them the "oh-must-have" latest iPhone or toys but they're usually less spoiled (but can still be spoiled). Lots of them spend time with the kids and have fun times together. So, do middle class families generally raise kids better? Because they can afford to give children what they need and want, but can't afford to go overboard with it

The way people learn most about life (for example you can't no what real happiness is if you have not experienced real sadness and you can't really be grateful for what you have if you have never been without) is through making their own mistakes and learning from them and having to struggle at times but getting through them. If you shelter your children from these things you are not doing them any favours really.

The quality of parenting depends not on the socioeconomic class of the parent but the level of respect, empathy, nurturing, and guidance they show their children. People from any class can be really great parents, or really lousy parents. The amount of money has nothing to do with it. Your reasoning for why middle class parents are better parents is an over-simplification and relies heavily on your own biases.

It has less to do with what the parents have than how they raise the kid. A middle class or even a poor family can have a spoiled child.

What you say about rich people only applies to "new money", don't get it twisted, my family is old money so we don't go overboard with anything. There are two types of wealthy, old money and new money, don't get the two mixed up

I attended private schools on financial aid and had plenty of rich classmates. I saw no evidence that rich parents regularly spoiled their kids. Some do, some don't, and middle-class parents can have their own problems as child rearers. In fact, they may give their children too much as well and not expect enough of them.

You are making a lot of incorrect assumptions about the rich (you seriously think they don't spend time with their kids and don't have fun with them?), and my guess is that you actually don't have a lot of regular contact with rich families. You can't make blanket statements about any group, so don't try. Such claims will make you look unintelligent.

There are good parents and bad parents at every economic level. What matters more than economics is education. Educated parents are better about talking with and reading to their children (which in turn helps children develop their verbal skills at an earlier age), about being involved with their children's schooling, keeping up with routine health matters, and using nonviolent forms of discipline.

Quite the contrary - they tend to over indulge their children. Hence the generation of snowflake millennials who are used to throwing their toys out of the pram and getting their way then finding the big bad world isn't quite what they expected.

NO. Each family have their own way so just continue doing what your doing in a good way & never worry about what others think or do. Mike

  • Why do Liberals want to raise taxes? So the 47% can afford to pay their new data plan for their iphone 5? so GSA can travel lavish parties in Vegas? to pay for illegal immigrants medical and educational bills while I worked full time at community college? to redistribute the wealth?
  • We should all go on strike to raise the minimum wage to $50/hour? So we can feed our 10 children and keep our iphones and bmws and all live in bel-air. They need to show more respect for us burger flippers.
  • In the US, can a low/middle class person afford buying things who cost more or less than 500 trumps? An second-hand iPhone 7 which less than 500 trumps. I do not know how many trumps low and middle class persons receive monthly in the US. It is a colloquial term for dollar dollar = trump 10 dollars = 10 trumps 10 Canadian dollars = 10 trudeaus 10 libras = 10 theresas 10 euros = 10 macrons, 10 angelas, 10 salvinis, etc.
  • How to raise enough money to buy an iPhone SE? I turned 11 on March 29. I have a cell phone that I got at the beginning of the school year (September last year) but it's a Moto E. There isn't much I can really do with it so I want a new phone. It costs about $400 so I need a way to earn that much money soon because the quicker I get the money, the better. (And please don't say that IIm too young for a phone!)
