Do you pay tax on a deposit?
I bought an iPhone 6 and I took it to Verizon for service and they told me before they can provide me service, I'm gonna have to pay a $400 deposit (I don't use credit cards so I don't have a good credit score) that they'll return to me in 12 months. Can I expect to pay them $400 flat, or should I realistically be looking at shelling out $428?
Depends entirely on what the laws where you live as it varies greatly
Here you pay taxes on deposits
- Would I have to pay California tax if I bought an iPhone in NV with a CA credit card? Don't really want to pay $60 extra in tax for my phone if I can hop over to NV and not pay it…
- Why do AT&T, Verizon and Sprint need a deposit? Because I went to any AT&T couple weeks ago to get the iPhone 4 and the guy told me I needed a 300 dollar deposit, why do you need it
- When you buy something online do they tax you? I order some clothes from plndr.com and didn't tax me. Weird and I order some shoes from zappos.com and they didn't tax me. Weird. And I had a few dollars left in my debit card and I bought a case for my iPhone. I bought the case from amazon and the shipper was from china(hong kong) and they still didn't tax me. Weird. Lol. So why aren't they taxing me?
- Sprint mobile credit/deposit? I've had virgin mobile for the past two years. Now I want to switch to Sprint to purchase the iPhone 5. Being only 21 years old I don't know how my credit score would affect with trying to open a sprint account. I'm living in a dorm and I only pay my internet/cable bill that has my social security number on it. I make those payments on time. And have nothing in collections. Would I be able to open a sprint account without a hefty deposit?
