Does lack of data keep you from texting?

I have turned off my sons data so that he can't access the internet constantly on his iphone. This is probably a dumb question but-does that keep him from texting or making phone calls?

Data and phone/text are two separate things. With data turned off they still have the phone and text minutes

No. 4g LTE is phone calls and texting. Data is internet. But if you have Wi-Fi, on iPhone iMessage/Facetime and internet all run on Wi-Fi anyway. Best luck.

  • If I keep my data on but also use Wi-Fi will it use my data? I just got an iPhone from us cellular. I use Wi-Fi to save data, but I can't receive group messages if my data isn't on.
