Does the iPhone 5s work off of a WEP wi-fi network?
My router is quite old and while it is enabled for WPA and WEP I have it on WEP to make connection easier. It's not like there are people hacking into my Wi-Fi network; I'm one of the few people in my area who actually put a security key on.
Also not including the speed of my network would WEP be inherently slower than WPA?
The form of security you use on a router does not affect the output speed.
And yes the iPhone can accept WEP passwords.
Many routers use a Hex or ASCII string for the passcode to allow access to your Wi-Fi network. This requires a small tweak in the settings. In my situation, my home network is run off an Actiontec router (Verizon FIOS) named "021J8". The Actiontec router has a Hex password which won't work on the regular iPhone WEP Password blank.
- Wi-Fi on iPhone keeps saying unable to join network (my network name)? How can I fix this! It's been like this for a week but it works on my laptop fine. I tried unplugging it for a few seconds, I tried resetting network settings, I tried turning my phone off then on again, and I know I'm typing it right. I even typed it in upper case AND lower case. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
- What's the difference between off-network and on-network? I'm try to work out which is best for what I want out of the service. I want protection while on my iPhone 5 (both when connected via Wi-Fi and when roaming on 3/4G). Website with product details: http://www.umbrella.com/products/umbrella-security-features/
- What network does the iphone 4s work on? I'm going to buy an iphone 4s from the apple online website that has a micro sim card and works on gsm networks, i'm buying it fully at 450 so its unlocked and its pay as you go, so i want to know what networks these go on? Do i just go into a phone store and get given a sim card? Or does the micro sim card i get with it get registered with whatever network i want?
- Looking for a way to evenly share network speed in a house network? So my problem is that I play games online, that need a good ping. Whenever anyone from any other computer goes to load a video on youtube in a high quality, it takes up all the speed, gives me more than 400 ping and just pretty much cuts everyone else out. Is there a way to share the network evenly between every user? Our download speed is about 6mb/s, so if we have 4 active users, i'd like it to share it like 1.5mb/s each.
