First camera for photography?

I really want to get into photography and I'm tired of using my iPhone. What camera should I get for y first one ) canon or Nikon please )

Depends on your budget. For a great compact camera, try a Nikon Coolpix P330.

You have to give us a budget,.

An entry level dSLR like the Nikon D3200 or Canon (cannons shoot canon balls) T5i/700D

Spend some time reading the professional reviews found on DP Review that discuss those cameras and features.

After that, visit the DXOmark.com website and compare the sensor performance of those two cameras.

Finally, visit a proper camera shop and hold both cameras in your hands

If you can't see beyond Canon (there's a special Hell for people who can't spell it ) or Nikon, maybe you aren't ready yet.

DSLRs are the only area where Canon and Nikon are relevant - Sony and Pentax do the job just as well, but only intelligent people have heard of them. Prices range from $500 to thousands.

Bridge cameras ($200 - DSLR prices) combine a small sensor with a powerful zoom lens. Nikon's L-series are junk, and the superb P-series over-priced. Canon's SX- series are unremarkable, and their G-series good, but expensive. Good names here are Fujifilm and Panasonic (Lumix), but don't even look at a model which doesn't have a viewfinder.

EVIL cameras are gaining quite a following among those who want interchangeable lenses, but not the size, weight and complexity of DSLRs. Nikon's 1- series and the Pentax Q- series are hampered by their small sensors. Canon's EOS-M is reasonable, but Sony's NEX series are the big boys here. Olympus and Panasonic have made this area their own, and Samsung have a terrible reputation.

For cheap compacts, avoid Kodak, BenQ, Vivitar and GE. Canon and Nikon rely on a plentiful supply of passing idiots to shift their unremarkable - but higher priced - models.

Any camera is only as good as the skills and experience of the person behind it.

Buy a real camera. I'd go with a Nikon D3100 or Canon Rebel T3. And like Andrew told you, Sony & Pentax also make quality cameras. A $45, 000 Hasselblad won't do you any good if you don't sit down and learn how to use it.
I've gotten magazine quality photos with my friend's $130 point and shoot…

Oh, it's a great step. If i were i will choose the Nikon. If you want to have the better one you can visit the below website. I believe it must help you. It is a company from China and they sell quality cameras. So you can check it as photography is your hobby.

Plan to get serious? Get a dSLR and dedicate time and effort to learning photography. The dSLR would be useless if you don't know what to do with it.

Just plain get the to next level? Grab a bridge camera. You know that zoom is what you want.
