First dslr what should I go for?
Ok so have just sold my fujifilm s4300 bridge camera and am going to move to a dslr
I have 2 options, to for something budget and old like the eos 350/400d for close to £100 on ebay which would be substantial for me I would think? (How would that compare to my Fuji?) as my friend has the Nikon d60 I believe and I absolutely love it!
Or I could go for a Nikon d3100 which is better and has the bonus of full hd (I'm a little youtuber so this would be a great thing for me as I use my iPhone to video atm) found it for 200 second hand.
Budget is a big deal as am only in school and have a part time job but nothing major
So in terms of photo alone how would the cheap option fair? And please feel free to suggest any sub 120£ cameras that you think are good for me… Would the ones I've chosen be better than my Fuji? Would they have as many features etc and would they be a good entry to photography or is it worth stumping up the extra (again budget is a big deal)
Oh and, I'll be using it with just the standard 18-55 lens for the foreseeable future so lenses and such aren't an issue. Just for skate and urban and nature photography
Sorry if my question is a bit had to understand but thanks to anyone for any advice.
I'd go for the D3100. I own one myself, Its a very capable body for what it is. Its also dead simple to use and very responsive.
The 400d (Called the XTi in America) was a great body in its day. It used to compete with the Nikon D60 and was better in just about every aspect. But times have changed.
If you can save up more. You can buy a used T2i or T3 for a slightly higher price.
Also since the Nikon D3300 has been released that means prices on new and used/refurbished D3200's are going to drop. The D3200 has 1080p video with smoother 30fps. It also has full manual control in video mode.
I wouldn't buy any refurbished camera from eBay.
If you want it for videos, why don't you buy a video camera/camcorder. You'll get better results. A DSLR is made specifically for stills photography; the video is purely an add on feature.
Both are amazing cameras, but my suggestion is the 400D for the price.

they basically have the same purpose for starter DSLRs and are both good cameras. You'll be happy with either.
If you think you absolutely need the video, go for the Nikon d3100.
But if youre more in it for the photos, go with the Canon 400D. Its an older camera, but it still has great results!
Also, considering the DSLR's, i hope youre willing to buy other lenses for them as well!
- Which one do you prefer, dslr or iphone? For those who have both iphone&a dslr, which one do you think is more useful& especially which one do you love more? And to those who have neither, which one do you fancy more?
- Should I get a DSLR camera or Get a lens for my iPhone 6? I have an iPhone 6 and all my photography is done via my phone. My birthday is coming up and I was wondering if I should rather get a DSLR or if buying a macro for my phone would be better. What do you recommend?
- Should I buy iPhone 5S or should I buy a DSLR? I own a Samsung Galaxy S3. I wanted to buy a iPhone 5S. Do you think I should buy a DSLR instead of iPhone 5S or choosing an iPhone is a better choice. Please don't tell it is my choice. If you had a samsung galaxy s3 as your phone and you have a choice to either buy your first DSLR or a iPhone 5s, which would you choose? I actually wanted to buy a DSLR, but now I feel like buying iphone 5s
- Should I buy a iPhone 5 or a dslr camera? I leave for basic training with the military pretty soon and I'm confused on wether I should get a dslr camera or a iPhone 5, I have an iPhone 4S but the camera has no focus
