Found a mobile phone (iphone) will police track me?
Today i found an iPhone at the back of the bus obviously someone has left it there, had it for the whole journey no one has tried to call it, i want to hand it in to the local police station but can i hand it in anonymously? Like will they ask my details because i obviously don't want to be accused of stealing if it has already been reported lost or stolen?
my question basically, will police ask for MY details if i'm handing in a phone i found on the bus?
Turn it in to the bus driver, that way you avoid all the police questions. Yes if you take it to a police station, they will want or ask for your ID and where and when you found it
Yes, but you won't be accused of stealing it if you're handing it in! Do it soon though otherwise it looks odd! If you're scared dump the phone. A phone is traceable if switched on & even switched off if battery & sim are in phone. But for lost/stolen phone they won't go to that extreme
Try taking it to a Telstra shop or phoning a number from the contacts within. But do sincerely try to find the owner, and if you do you will feel wonderful.
Technically no stealer goes to the police station just to give the items he stole. So don't worry and just go and give the phone to them. Unless you stole the phone from that guy.

So I was at a wrestling tournament and when the matches started I was working concessions when I noticed something on the stairs I went up to it and it was an iPhone. I waited for someone to come back but no one did After the tournament I went to GameStop and sold it. If they deactivate the phone will GameStop or the police pursue me?

- I found a iphone 4 and i tried to see who the owner was a year ago and gave it to police? It seems like the carrier shut it down because it says no service. And it has to be turned on by the volume button. I got to the lockscreen but i don't know the passcode is there any software to hack it
