Garmin GPS watch (Forerunner 405CX)?
I just bought a new Garmin GPS running watch. This is my first watch.
I must admit I got sucked into buying it quickly because I got it for a good deal on Amazon.
This watch seems to be a great piece of equipment that will offer me more than what my app on my iPhone does. The only thing that has me questioning the product is that it doesn't have a vibration alert. I wear headphones while running, and I refuse to run without headphones, I love my music.
For those of you that use these watches, how much of an issue do you see this as?
Is it still relativly easy to hear with headphones on, or it is not that big of a deal as long as you glace at the watch every few minutes?
I'm wondering if it's worth returning the watch and spending the extra $100 on the 610.
Congrats.
I run with the 305.It doesn't have a vibration alert either.
The only run i do that I need the alarm for is my interval running routine and I haven't had a problem with hearing it yet. And yes, i run with headphones, too.
However, I'm having trouble imagining anything it does that an iPhone can't do. ( I don't have an iphone but i do sometimes run with an ipod touch). Then on the other hand the accessories to make an iphone into a HRM are probably almost as expensive as the Garmin - and the Garmin fits on your wrist.
The other issue with the 405 is the touch bezel. My 305 was less expensive than the 405 when i bought it but I think I still would have gotten the 305 cause it has real buttons. I've read reviews where the reviewer didn't like the bezel. Of course he 305 is pretty ugly but then so am I.
If you have the extra cash you should consider getting the Motorola ACTV. If i was going to buy a new one today that's what I would get. But be forewarned - the ACTV doesn't include much in the box.you'll have to buy all the accessories separately. And that gets expensive. But you can do it over time.
The other thing is I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how cool it is to have a GPS/HRM. (although if you have an iphone the GPS won't be a novelty - like it was for me). I ended up going to new places and trying a lot of different workouts just to play with the watch.
Last comment. Look for a 305 used. They have every feature the 405 has. And they'be been around a long time. You might save $100/
First of all, I have only owned a 205. I have never had a single problem with it. I have never had a need for a vibration feature. I rarely use music though. When I do, I glance at my watch quite a bit. Never bothered me.
I have friends with both the 305 and 405. I would suggest getting the 305. I like the buttons on it more than the ones on the 405.
I haven't really heard much about the 610. I can't imagine a vibration alert would be enough to make me spend $100.
- Will the Apple Watch accessories for the 38mm fit the Apple Watch 4? Will the 38mm accessories fit the 40mm accessories for the Apple watches? Kinda like how 7+ things fit the 8+ things with the iPhones etc I was wondering because I just recently purchased my first Apple Watch, series 4, the Nike edition, 40mm & when I type in accessories for that online most things pop up as 38mm/40mm, so I was just wondering before I make any purchases for accessories…
- Which company makes better GPS systems? Apple or Garmin? Thinking of getting a brand new GPS and I can't decide between Apple iPhone 6+ or the Garmin Nuvi 255W
- What is a good round watch face alternative to the apple watch? I have an iPhone 5c and I'm wanting a smartwatch. But the apple watch is just so ugly, and not to mention expensive! What is a good round face alternative that will let me text, call, etc?
- Is the Garmin App for iPhone an offline app? I'm wondering that because I'm considering buying an iPhone and don't want to waste data while I drive and am looking for an offline navigation app that provides turn by turn directions. Here's a link to it: https://itunes.apple.com/...90305?mt=8 And also what about the TomTom one?: https://itunes.apple.com/...89842?mt=8
