Is the Garmin App for iPhone an offline app?

I'm wondering that because I'm considering buying an iPhone and don't want to waste data while I drive and am looking for an offline navigation app that provides turn by turn directions.

No both apps use the internet. They need a gps to follow your path of travel. And to download maps for the direction.

Please, do not listen to Steven. I highly doubt he even looked at the app. In the Garmin app description, it clearly states, "wireless coverage is not required to navigate", which means you do not need internet. It only uses the phone's GPS.

The TomTom app also states, "because the app works not only online, but offline too", so having internet does make it work better, but it works without internet as well.
