Getting my first smartphone. Is the iPhone 4s outdated today?

Getting my first smart phone and I'm thinking of getting a used iPhone 4s or used Samsung Galaxy S3 because it's cheaper to get a used phone instead of a new one. Is the iPhone 4s outdated today and will it become unusable when ios7 comes out? I don't care about having the absolute newest phones and technology but I still want something that is fast enough and still works pretty good. Should I buy a used iPhone 4s today?

I would get a brand new samsung galaxy s3 for 25 dollars off amazon like I'm doing iphone out rated

In function, there isn't much difference between the first iphone and the most recent. The first noticeable difference is phone size and screen size.next would be features such as the cameras or Siri. But in the end, they're all iphones. And the same goes for other brands. I have a Galaxy S3 and my room mate got the S4. Literally the only difference was a.25 ( that's 1/4) of an inch screen difference and about an ounce weight difference. So, in the end, its a matter of preferences. Do some research on which have what features for what prices and decide what the right balance is for you.

I'm not a fan of apple. My son had an ipod… I hated tht thing, however I love my s3.Im on it now. I like the android operating system though. I had a previous phone which ran on it… But my friend has an iphone… Just depends on what's right for you… Research it and check them out at your cellular provider.

If you run a Mac go with the Iphone 4s if not go with Galaxy as it is my thinking that if you have the choice it is better to keep all you electronics in the one brand so as to maximize countability.

IPhone 4S isn't outdated. The phone still has a very fast and capable A5 chip (which allows for many breakthrough features such as facial recognition when taking photos, smooth and fluid gameplay, fast web browsing, efficient download speeds, and seamless app multitasking), an 8-megapixel iSight camera with LED flash, a killer Retina display, and the world's most advanced mobile operating system, which is iOS.

iOS 7 will be compatible with iPhone 4 and later. So yes, your iPhone 4S will be able to run iOS 7 when it ships this fall. And there will be no lag.

Its a hard choice the 4s is gonna be a little bit faster than the s3 but then you loose out with connectivity with the android apps with the 4s, The S3's accept memory cards for more storage and have a slightly longer battery life and the size of the s3 compared to the 4s is noticeably bigger. If you have never operated a smartphone before i would go with the s3 because the overall function is a little easier to operate. They both will only be 3g compatible where as the iphone5 & s4 are 4g LTE

  • When will the iPhone 4 get outdated? Okay, so I was planning on getting an iPhone 4 but I don't want it to be unsupported by the apps like what happened when I got an iPhone 3G. Every app I wanted to download required 3gs and above. How long before the iPhone 4 becomes like this?
  • Just got my first smartphone (iPhone 3GS), what apps should I get? I got the 3GS as it's a cheap first smartphone but I don't know all the common uses smartphones are put to. What uses/apps do you recommend? Can you recommend a good racing game that will run on the 3GS?
  • Is the iPhone 5 a good 'first smartphone'? So I'm looking to get my first smartphone. I'm not really a noob to smartphones but I've never actually owned one. I have an iPod touch 4gen and I use up all my 8 GB's. I like apps, I plan to have music on my phone, and I want everything in it. I take lots of pictures too. Would an iPhone 5 be a good investment? Or should I go with the 4S?
  • Is the iphone 4 too outdated? I can get it for 300.is it worth it? that's 400 cheaper than the 5 (which is 700) so is it worth it? will i have access to all of the latest apps still? Just answer my question or leave Can i do stuff like vine/instagram on them? That's why i'm asking. If it works or not. My god. I don't want to buy it if the apps i want won't be working.
