I have an iPhone problem?

Right so i'm getting an iphone 4s next month.

Will it still work after it gets discontinued? Like when i get it and i download facebook and snapchat will the apps still work when it gets discontinued? For 2 years until the next upgrade.

So when i download all my apps and then the 4s gets discontinued will the phone still work software wise and apps wise until 2016?

Yes all the apps will work. The only problem is the new IOS runs very slow on 4. Maybe it's better on the 4s, but it will continue to be supported.

Yes, there's nothing to worry about. It simply means that Apple will not be making this phone anymore. But it will still continue to work as normal and you still will be able to download and use apps.

Everything will work fine, and I used to own a 4S before I upgraded, so in response to you and Artemisc, iOS 7 does run fine.

My ipod 4th gen was never updated past ios 6, but it still works fine and I can still download apps.

Yeah, your iPhone should still work. Even if production of that model iPhone discontinues, it'll still work.

Heck, I have an LG Cell Phone that's from Alltel that still works. And it's around 6 or 7 years old.

Yes it will still very much work. The original iPhone from 2007 still works, though app support is another thing.

Again using that original iPhone to make a point, it was launched in 2007, discontinued in 2008, supported in terms of iOS updates until 2010 & supported in terms of apps until iOS 4.3 came out in 2011.

In terms of the 4s in particular it was launched in 2011, still made & sold in 2014 (though it should be discontinued later this year), but likely will get iOS 8 so should be supported until 2015, & in terms of apps could be years after that.

Should easily last past 2016.
