Have you given up your iPhone? Or Facebook? Or texting?

I realize that I waste too much time on my phone. Whether it be Facebook, texting, or random Internet searching. Have any of you ever just decided to give up your iPhone? I'm tired of being one of those people that stare at their phones all the time. I missing out on life and I know this. I guess bad habits are hard to break.

There are so many things in my life I want to improve on. I guess the hardest part is getting started.

I was a Facebook addict and I went cold turkey for 2 months to do an experiment for ending the addiction as well as to see who my real friends were. Turns out no one contacted me outside of facebook just to see how I was doing. One person messaged me during the hiatus to see how I was doing, but the rest didn't care that I was gone. I tell you, it opens your eyes. Besides getting my life back, I found out that I really don't need Facebook. It was hard breaking the habit for the first month, but overall I did it. I went on recently to check all of it, and now I just want to permanently delete it. It really is a waste of time, not to mention it can ruin a lot of things in your life. Texting, I find it useful as well as random internet searching. I really only text my best friend and my fiance, and then family. For random internet searching, it's the easiest way to learn something new. But, I'd love to get back into book reading. I don't have an iPhone, but I have a Droid. If I could, I'd give it up for a basic phone, but nowadays it's just used productively so I'd be okay with keeping that.

So stop staring at it all the time. You don't have to give it up.

It was easy to give up the cell phone, except for emergency use, after seeing a doctor on television explaining the large increase in brain tumors just the other day. They are seeing brain tumors in people in their 30's and 40's like never before. Their research attributes the increase to the extended use of cell phones and Bluetooth devices being used near the ears/head continuously. The doctor said he took the smart phones away from his younger children and told them that they could use them again when they are in their mid teens, and then on a limited basis.

  • What would you do if you were watching your favorite show, and your 20 year old kid turned off the TV so that you couldn't watch it? I pay all the bills at the house. I normally watch AHS once a week with my kid. This week, she told me to go watch it in my own room. I told her my TV wasn't working and we would just have to watch it in her room. She turned off the TV so that I couldn't watch it. Then, she pompously pulled out her iPhone and proceeded to watch it on her iPhone. What would you do if this happened to you?

  • Setting up a College-given Hotmail account in Mail or Sparrow for iPhone? I attend a school where the email given is hotmail, but the address is not xxxx@hotmail.com. When I try to access my account on Mail or Sparrow on my iPhone, I can't get it to work. It either says that it can't connect, or asks for ingoing/outgoing servers, etc.etc. And then tells me it can't connect. If anyone has any ideas for Mail or Sparrow they would be much appreciated! I will use whichever I can get to work, so please let me know if you have ideas for either app.
