Go buy one. It would cost more for the parts to build your own. Plus all the special mechanical parts to hold the assembly and the connector and the iphone.
IF you have a lot of design experience AND a good machine shop, you might be able to design and build one for about 5 times what it would cost to buy one.
It charges through the USB port - you can buy plug in adapters that the USB plugs into - one comes with the phone and you can buy spares from Apple or other shapes from other sources.
To do the speakers you will have to add volume control pots and understand how to use them to maintain impedance. His soldering technique is fairly rotten and as he says, his iron is a poor choice.
