How did the police track my number down?
A week ago, i found a iphone6 in the bathroom so i put it in my pocket, it was dead already. FYI i have the same phone so i had no intent to use it. I put it in my coat pocket.
This morning I received a call from the police asking about an iphone but i'm at work at the moment so i can't really call back. I realized I still had the lost phone in my coat pocket at home.
It got me thinking on how and why did they get my number in the first place?
IPhone are the most trackable gadgets around. GPS the stolen number. Find the address where its currently located. Phone records indicate a billing address trace the billing number to that address. Call that person. Next time steal a tracphone

There's many ways, police have access to a lot of systems including department of transport or equivalent for your state/country. Also other agencies data and historical data, even phone company data. We can also ping phones, view CCTV footage, speak to witnesses… Any number of these things simultaneously would be your answer.
They may track it with gps.
- Will game stop track me down? Or will the police come and find me? So I was at a wrestling tournament and when the matches started I was working concessions when I noticed something on the stairs I went up to it and it was an iPhone. I waited for someone to come back but no one did After the tournament I went to GameStop and sold it. If they deactivate the phone will GameStop or the police pursue me?

My iphone was stolen last night its yet to be turned on but using the find my iphone app i should be able to find the address, the problem is that the whoever took it is not going to willingly give it back, and the people i have an idea of who took it are quite intimidating, thank you.
- If you take the SIM card out of an iphone can the police/ family still track you? So I watched this movie called SALT it's not that old but it's a good movie. In one part she takes the SIM card out of the phone so no one can track it. But is that also true with iPhones? Like of you take the SIM card out can the police still track your phone. Because I was think yes because it has your number. But is that true? It's not traceable if you take the SIM card out. But if not is there a way and how?
