How to turn a small speaker into a subwoofer?
In gonna use speakers that you connect to your iPhone, but I wanna know if there's a way to turn them into subwoofers? If there's, please explain in detail, or even better show me a video if possible?
You just can't… Both are totally different… If you r planning to replace a sub-woofer wid a normal speaker and vice-versa, then don't do it coz it will produce a totally unclear, disturbing sound.
A driver (speaker) that possesses the capabilities to be a subwoofer would have been designed and made expressly for that application. Subwoofer drivers in general have a frequency response (range of sound in can play) of 20 Hz to 200 Hz., which means they can't even play midrange sounds. The drivers that your tweaking on are "full range" which generally operate from 80 Hz to 20 KHz, not really low enough to be a woofer, much less a sub (below) woofer (low frq.speaker). They can't do it.
You turn a small speaker into a subwoofer the same way you turn a bicycle into a dump truck… That is, you don't.
Producing low frequency requires moving a lot of air. To move a lot of air you need a lot of surface area and a lot of motion. A small speaker does not have the cone surface area nor can it's cone move a lot so it can never be a subwoofer.
If you are interested in building/modifying/generally tinkering with speakers then you need to find some projects for yourself on the Parts Express Website. Http://www.parts-express.com/speakers.cfm
You can in theory, however a regular speaker is designed for a wide range of frequencies i.e playing regular songs. A subwoofer however is designed for producing low frequency soundwaves such as bass. If your amplifier has a specific output for subwoofer you could use a regular speaker but it would not be able to produce the low frequency sound so it's not worth it.
You can't do that. Subwoofer needs to move aloft of area to create a sound wave. Small speakers can't handle the low frequency that a is required of the subwoofer. Hope this will help you out.
Same way you turn your compact car into a tractor trailer. You obviously don't understand that subwoofers are not designed to be used without accompanying full range speakers.

When i insert headphones the volume does work but i need to volume to work. I put my phone in rice and am hoping for the best… HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM?
- IPhone sounds play from ear speaker, not bottom speaker? Every so often, when I double click the home button, scroll over to the volume level, there's a little symbol for air play. When selected, I can play sounds from either the I phones ear speaker or the bottom (louder) speaker. However, this seems to go in and out and most of the time the air play icon isn't there. How do I fix this?
