How does CPS work? (Kinda long)?
My mom is calling CPS tomorrow on my dad. He neglects us, makes us do his job for him, left to go vacation in Laos for 3 weeks starting today, when we tell him we need food, he tells me he "doesn't have money", yet he can afford a laptop, ipad, 2 iPhone 4s, & 2 iPhone 5. When we tell him to take us shopping for clothes, again "we don't have money" or "only buy the on sale clothes". Yet when he goes shopping he gets 40 dollar shoes and 50 dollar suits. How fast will CPS get to my house? I live in the country. Who are the CPS? Police? What will they look at around here? How long will the case be? My mom is coming right after she calls. I really want to live with her. So do my brothers. What about my half sister? Will she stay in Foster care until she's 18? Do I get to live with my mom? Is my reason of leaving my dad, a good enough reason? I'm 16 if it even matters.
CPS will come see you within the day that she calls most likely. It's usually within 24 hours.
CPS is not the police. They don't do criminal investigations and the child welfare system is a different machine than the criminal justice system. People found "guilty" of child abuse and/or neglect are put on a registry that comes up in background checks, but again, it's a different background check than a criminal background check.
They will look at the home of your dad and they will visit the home of your mom. They will talk to everyone, including you, about what is going on.
They will take all of this information and make an assessment. You will likely not be removed if your dad just has priority issues, but your basic needs are being met.
If your mom has appropriate living arrangements and your dad is found not fit to be able to provide care for you then you may be able to go stay with her. If your dad has custody and is found to be an appropriate caregiver, then it becomes a custody issue of you going to live with your mom which is not what CPS does.
Anyway, the case could be open anywhere from 2 months to years depending on the circumstances.
- Why I'm I starting to get kinda nervous again? Why I'm I starting to get nervous around my crush again why? Does that mean i don't know how to make him like me And he was looking at my iPhone what I was doing
- Be honest is this kinda weird? I have this app on my iPhone & it's like a 2nd "contact book" & I like to keep contacts of people I rarely speak to & various phone numbers from old doctors dentists etc from my previous town just in case I ever had to get a hold of them or needed someone's number. Is this strange? My husband seems to think it's very odd.

- How long does it take an iPhone to recharge after it had been dead a long time? My cousin just gave me her old iPhone 5. It's in good condition but it's been sitting in her drawer for months. I don't know how many months but a pretty long while. Anyways, i out it on the charger and it hasn't moved from the red. It's been on maybe… At least a half hour. Is it okay? I don't know anything about these machines lol.
