How good is the iPhone 3GS at recording live music/concerts?

I'm going to see an dance music act in May and was just curious how good the microphone is on the 3GS when it comes to loud music, and if there's much point in filming at all? It would only be for recording one song or two.

I thought everyone's head the bad recordings on youtube.

the simple answer is no.

Phones are not good for that type of stuff… It will record it but don't expect it to sound great, not like using a real camcorder or recorder.

  • Would this iphone lens be allowed in no-cam concerts? I'm going to kanye wests concert tomorrow and it says so cameras on the ticket. but I was wondering if a lens like this would be allowed in the concert but i'm pretty sure its all made out of plastic so I could probably hide it? will security wands detect it?
  • When I sing I sound good in my head but on recording it doesn't sound as good? I understand why this is but I want to know if it is because my iPhone recording quality isn't good. If not how do I actually listen to how others hear me sing.
