How long should I charge my brand new iphone 5s for the first time?

There have been quite a lot of opinions. So please tell me your advice and also your expirience!

What I usually do with new devices is, charge them overnight and then use it till the battery is completely or nearly drained (like 1%), then charge it back up to 100% again.

Just charge until the battery full. Charging it for longer won't make it last longer or anything. And nothing will happen if you charge it over night either but there's no need to because after its fully charged it won't charge anymore it will just keep it from loosing battery. Also if you wanna know approx. How much time it takes to fully charge maybe around 30-45 minutes. (and a little trick, if you won't be using your phone for anything you can put it on airplane mode while charging and it charges twice as fast)
