What is the best way to charge an iPhone 5s for the first time?

I'm getting my first iPhone, a 5s, soon, and I'd like to know what would be the proper way to charge it. I've heard different things from different people lately: charging it on airplane mode, charging it all the way but not using any apps, etc.

Is there a proper way to charge it for the first time to make sure the battery doesn't die quickly, or is there a preferred way that anyone has observed? Please let me know.

Charging it on airplane mode makes the phone charge quicker, and with all the apps off helps too. Just charging it with the normal cable is fine too. I just got the 5s and I charge it normally and the battery life is pretty good!

The best way to charge iPhone is to minimize the entire brightness of your phone then turn off its Wi-Fi and bluetooth, also you can put it on airplane mode. This will make your phone charge very fast and this will also improve your phone performance. I charge my iPhone implementing the above steps.
